Windsurfing and kiteboarding

Course racing, slalom and elimination series under RRS Appendices B and F.

Appendix B covers windsurfing competitions and Appendix F covers kiteboarding. Both change the racing rules, and both include formats beyond ordinary fleet racing.

On the race office's Class scoring tab, choose windsurfing or kiteboarding fleet racing, or windsurfing or kiteboarding heat elimination, as the class's format.

Course racing

Scored like any fleet race under Appendix A, with the changes the appendices make. Windsurfing fleet racing defaults to one discard after five races and two after twelve. In kiteboarding, DCT (a disqualification for causing a tangle) is scored as a disqualification.

Elimination series

Slalom, boardercross and similar formats run as elimination ladders: riders are seeded into heats, a set number advance from each heat to the next round, and the final decides the top places. Riders eliminated at the same stage share a place, as the appendices set. You allocate the heats and say how many advance, as your NoR sets them.

Marathon and distance races

Scored as single races, often with a time limit that affects the finishing window.

Freestyle

Freestyle, expression and speed events are judged or timed rather than raced, and Saildex Regattas does not score them.
