In team racing, teams of two, three or four boats race each other and the team result decides the race. Appendix D changes the racing rules and sets the race scoring.
Choose Team racing as the class's scoring format on the race office's Class scoring tab.
Scoring a race
Each boat scores its finishing place. The team with the lower total wins the race. Appendix D sets how a boat that does not finish is scored, and how a tied race is decided. Set the order of the tie-breaks your NoR uses for the round robin standings (head to head, average points, last race, common opponents) in the class settings.
With three boats a side, a team holding first wins with 1-2-x, 1-3-x or 1-4-5, and loses with 1-4-6 or 1-5-6 (RRS D3.4).
The event
A team race event usually runs as round robins and then a knockout, like match racing. A race win scores one point in the round robin. Saildex scores the round robins; run the knockout bracket yourself and enter each knockout race's result.
Entering a team
Enter each boat, then say which team each boat sails for in each race's inputs on the Class scoring tab. Published results show each race's team totals and the winning team.
