Share cards and captions

Make podium graphics, standings, race charts, awards and captions for any regatta or sailor, ready to post.

Every regatta, fleet, boat, sailor, class and season series on Saildex has a set of graphics made from its results, each with a caption you can edit. They are free, and nothing is installed. Press Share on the page you want, or open the share studio and paste a results link.

For a regatta

The Share button at the top of an event's results opens the cards for the whole event. Share fleet, beside each fleet's heading, opens that fleet's.

Card Shows
Event cover The event, where and when, with boats, fleets and races
Fleet winners The winner of every fleet, as a carousel when there are many
By the numbers Boats, fleets, the biggest fleet, clubs and sailors
Podium The top three and the winning margin
The winner The winner's points, race wins, race-by-race chips and crew
Standings The fleet, ten boats a slide
Race-by-race sheet The sheet as a picture, with race wins marked
How it unfolded Running position by race, headed by what happened
Awards Most race wins, most consistent, biggest climber and others
Race winners Who won races, and how many
Points behind The gaps behind the winner
Every finish Each race for the top of the fleet, one dot a race
Going into the last race What the last race changed in the standings
Clubs The clubs in the fleet, best finish first
Winning crew Everyone on the boat

A card appears only when the results can support it. A fleet of four has no "biggest climber", and a sheet whose running totals do not reach its final order gets no race chart.

For one boat

Every boat gets cards of its own, wherever it finished. Press Share result on its row in the results, or choose it under My result in the sheet.

  • My regatta: the finish, every race, the running position, and the boats just ahead and behind with the race-by-race record against each.
  • Boats beaten: how much of the fleet you finished ahead of.
  • Best race: your best finish, in context.
  • The crew: everyone on board.

For a sailor, class, boat or series

  • Sailors: the record of tracked results, a season in review for each recent year, rating, signature result, partners, rivals, titles, classes, boats and venues. A head-to-head page has its own cards.
  • Classes: the top of the rating board, the biggest movers, the best partnerships, and each trophy's honour roll.
  • Boats: the boat's record, its crew and its years.
  • Season series: the leaders, the standings, awards worked out across the series, and a My series card for each competitor.

Counts on these cards are of the events Saildex tracks, and the cards say so. Saildex does not hold every regatta anyone has sailed.

Posting

Choose a size and a style, then edit the caption.

Size Pixels Use it for
Feed 1080 × 1350 Instagram and Facebook feeds
Square 1080 × 1080 Square feed posts
Story 1080 × 1920 Stories; content stays clear of the app's own controls
Wide 1200 × 630 X, LinkedIn, Facebook and link previews

The five styles are Ink, Ivory, Charcoal, Sea and Signal.

On a phone, Share… opens your phone's share sheet with the picture attached and copies the caption. That is the way into the Instagram app, and into Messages if you want to send the picture itself. Messages, on a phone, starts a text with the caption and the link, and the link shows as a preview where the messaging app supports them.

On a computer, Instagram saves the picture and copies the caption, since Instagram cannot be posted to from a web page. X, Threads, Bluesky, WhatsApp and Email open with the caption and the link filled in. Facebook and LinkedIn accept only the link, so those buttons also copy the caption for you to paste into the post.

Upload the picture itself where you can, and put the link in the caption or first comment. A native image travels further in most feeds than a bare link does. Links shared on their own still show a card: every results, sailor and class page has a preview image, and a link copied or sent from the sheet previews the card you chose, in the style you chose.

A card with several slides saves as several images, ready for a carousel.

The studio recognises Saildex addresses and event links from YachtScoring, Regatta Network, Clubspot, Manage2Sail, Regattaman, JibeSet, NextSailor, ORC, Techscore and published Sailwave pages, when Saildex holds that event. A link to an event we do not hold yet will say so; new events on the platforms we follow arrive with the next import.

Hosted events

If you score on Saildex, your event has the same cards from your first published results. They are marked Provisional until you publish final results, and competitors see only what you have published. See Publish results, provisional and final.

Questions

What does it cost? Nothing. Cards are drawn from templates, with no account and no limit.

A name or a result is wrong. The cards read the same results as the page. Correct it at the source, or use the correction options on the sailor's profile, and the card follows.

Can I change the wording? Yes, edit the caption before you post. The picture itself is set from the results.
