Where it comes from
SailDex archives published results from Regatta Network, Clubspot, YachtScoring, TechScore, RegattaMan, JibeSet and smaller scoring sites, and links the names in them into sailor profiles, boats and classes. Where it cannot tell whether two records are the same person, it keeps them apart and says so.
What a rating means
Ratings reflect how a helm, crew or boat has finished against the fleets they raced, with stronger competition counting for more. A rating firms up as more races are sailed, and boards list only sailors and boats with enough racing behind them. Each class has its own board, and one board covers all classes.
College rankings
College rankings are computed each week from published ICSA results, for schools in fleet and team racing and for skippers and crews by division. A week's lists are frozen when they are published: later results and corrections show up in later weeks, not in earlier ones. A list appears once enough of the season has been sailed for it to mean something. They are not affiliated with ICSA and are not an official ranking.
What it cannot see
Conditions, venues and boat speed are not modeled, and many sources publish skippers but not crew lists, so crew records are thinner than helm records. Events missing from the archive, misspelled names and late corrections at the source all show up here. Claimed profiles can merge duplicates and remove results that are not theirs. The index is rebuilt nightly.
