Saildex Regattas

Why it is free

Hosting costs clubs and competitors nothing. This page explains why, and what Saildex gets in return.

01

What free means here

Clubs pay nothing to host an event. Competitors pay nothing to enter one through Saildex. There is no paid tier, no per-boat charge, and no feature held back. Saildex takes no payments of any kind on regatta pages: no entry fees, no donations, and no card or bank details are ever asked for.

If your event has an entry fee, collect it the way your club collects anything else. Saildex Regattas does not handle it.

02

What Saildex gets in return

Saildex is a public record of sailboat racing: an archive of results from public scoring sites and a record for every sailor in them, with ratings derived from those results. Hosting is how Saildex keeps that record complete. Every event scored here arrives with its results final and its sailors named, which makes every sailor's record more accurate.

That is all Saildex gets. Results are public on every scoring site, and nothing else is asked of you.

03

What happens to your data

Results, entries, crew names and protest decisions are public, as they are on any scoring site, and they are kept as part of the record. Email addresses, phone numbers and registration answers are private to the event's organizers and are never published, sold or shared.

Saildex emails people only about their events: sign-in links, review decisions, role invitations, hearing notices and the organizer's own messages. The data, privacy and retention reference lists exactly what is public and what is not, and the privacy notice is the short version.

04

Who runs it

Saildex is run by Leebow, the sailing engineering firm that also makes the Offwind weather routing tool.

Questions about the arrangement go to support@saildex.com.

05

Why there is a review step

A free service with public pages attracts spam. A person reviews every club and every event before it is public, so the event pages on Saildex stay real events. What reviewers check.
