When a fleet is too big for one start line, it sails a qualifying series in groups (often coloured fleets) and then a final series in which the leaders sail for the title and the rest sail for their places.
Choose Qualifying and final fleets as the class's scoring format on the race office's Class scoring tab.
Qualifying groups
Divide the class into groups of similar strength, seeded from whatever ranking your NoR names, and reassign them after each day so the groups stay balanced. Saildex does not seed or balance the groups for you: record each boat's group for each race in the race inputs. Each group sails the same number of races; a race sailed by one group but not another is not counted until all groups have sailed it.
Final series
At the end of qualifying, boats are placed in final fleets (gold and silver by default; add bronze and more, with their sizes or ratios) by their qualifying rank. A boat in a higher fleet ranks above every boat in a lower fleet, whatever their points. Break any tie for the last place in a fleet before the finals start; Saildex does not allocate it.
Choose whether qualifying points carry into the final series in full, not at all, or as points you set per boat, and set the discards for each part. The NoR must state both; write those paragraphs in the generator yourself, because it does not take them from the class settings.
Publishing
Results pages show the qualifying ranking during qualifying and the final fleets once they are set, with each boat's qualifying score beside its final score.
