Publish results, provisional and final

Review standings, publish provisional results, and mark the series final when the protest window closes.

Results go through two public states. Provisional results are posted while protests and scoring inquiries can still change them. Final results are the published record. Both are labelled on the public results, the printable results and the event data feed, so nobody mistakes one for the other. Competitors see only what you have published; the race office's scoring preview is yours alone.

Review before you publish

Open the scoring preview for the class. Check:

  • every boat that raced has a finish or a code;
  • the start times are right for each class;
  • ratings are locked and match the certificates;
  • the discards are the ones the NoR says, and boats tied on points are broken as Appendix A8 says.

Each cell in the standings can be opened to show how its points were reached: the place, the code and its value, any penalty, and for the series, which races were discarded and why.

Publish provisional results

Publishing takes a snapshot of the standings and posts it on the event page. You can publish one race for one class as soon as it is scored, or the whole event at once. Later finishes and corrections do not change what is published until you publish again, so competitors never see a half-entered race. Each publication is numbered, and the event-data feed reports which version it serves.

Changes from hearings

When the protest committee decides a hearing, its decision (a disqualification, redress, a penalty) is applied to the scoring as a case, and the race office marks the published results as out of date. Publish again to post the corrected results. The published decision on the event's Protests tab names the boats and races it changed.

Mark the series final

When the time limits for protests, redress and reopening have passed and no hearing is pending, mark the results final. Rule 90.3 still lets the race committee correct its own scoring errors after that, and a final result that changes says so and keeps the earlier version on record.

Where results go

Published results appear on the event page, in the printable results and in the event-data feed. Once the results are final, the event also joins the Saildex results archive, and its sailors' records gain it, built from the published results rather than from later edits.
