89 Organizing Authority; Notice of Race; Appointment of Race Officials

Who may organize an event, the duty to publish a written notice of race conforming to Appendix J, and appointing the committees.

An organizing authority must be World Sailing, a national authority, an affiliated club or organization, a class association with approval or with an affiliated club, or a combination; some other bodies qualify only in partnership with an affiliated club and, where required, with approval. The organizing authority publishes a written notice of race that conforms to rule J1, may change it with adequate notice, and appoints the race committee and, when appropriate, a protest committee, technical committee and umpires.

On Saildex, a club or organization creates the event and is the organizing authority. The notice of race generator follows Appendix J.
