Prescriptions are a national authority's additions and changes to the racing rules (US Sailing's cover, among other things, who becomes a party to a redress hearing and liability for damages). For races crossing national waters the notice of race says which prescriptions apply where. National authorities may lock some prescriptions against change with World Sailing's approval.
