RRS 2025–2028 · Part 6

78 Compliance with Class Rules; Certificates

The owner and person in charge keep the boat in class and her certificate valid while racing; a missing certificate can be covered by a signed statement.

While racing, and at other times the class rules or event documents specify, the boat must comply with her class rules and hold a valid measurement or rating certificate if one is required. If you cannot produce the certificate before racing, you may race on a signed statement that a valid certificate exists, provided you produce it or have it verified before the start of the last day of the event or of the first series, whichever comes first. Failing that, you are disqualified from every race without a hearing.

If the class rules allow a penalty less than disqualification for a breach, the same lighter penalty applies under rule 78.
