32 Shortening or Abandoning After the Start

After the start the race committee may shorten or abandon for weather, lack of wind, a missing mark, safety or fairness.

After the starting signal the committee may shorten or abandon for foul weather, too little wind for any boat to finish in the time limit, a mark missing or out of position, or anything else directly affecting safety or fairness. It may also shorten to fit in other scheduled races, or abandon for an error in the starting procedure. Once a boat has sailed the course within the time limit, the committee must consider the consequences for every boat before abandoning.
